FEI Suspends UAE Endurance Rider

Kieran Paulson’s article called, FEI Suspends UAE Endurance Rider was published on March 7, 2019. Her article discusses the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) Tribunal’s finding after the British journalist Pippa Cuckson lodged a protest for horse abuse against Ali Mohammed Ali Al Hosani for striking his horse LCE Corleone with a water bottle.

The FEI Tribunal ultimately determined that Mr. Al Hosani’s use of the water bottle violated the Endurance Rules Article 810.2, which states that “whips (or the use of any other item as a whip) and spurs are prohibited.” It also determined that Mr. Al Hosani’s actions constituted horse abuse as defined by the General Rules Article 142.1 because his use of the water bottle “likely caused pain or unnecessary discomfort to the horse.” Mr. Al Hosani was suspended for six months.

Ms. Paulson’s article provides further details of the incident, including video footage.
